As a member of “Observatorio Ciudadano” you can be a part of the solution to environmental and overfishing problems in the Sea of Cortez. Observatorio members form a network of observers that will promote real change in the Sea.Members of Observatorio Cuidadano (OC) are committed to provide much needed vigilance in the Sea of Cortez. How?

    * Agree to maintain current ships documentation and licensing for your vessel

    * Download a copy of a BCS fisheries laws overview, to know what is legal and illegal

    * Notify OC whenever you directly observe fisheries law violations by:

      - Calling 001- 8816 31647345.
      - Hail “OBSERVERS” on VHF channel 11 if you are in the La Paz area,
      - e-mail a 160 character text message to 881631647345@msg.iridium.com. 24 hours a day, or
      - e-mail the report to reports@bahiadelapaz.org

    * Agree to assist in carrying out a sea rescue or assist in other emergency situations.

    * Participate in occasional online discussions to help critique and improve the effectiveness of the OC network.

You're probably doing most of this already, but OC provides you with a means of reporting illegal activities, and an organization to follow through with the appropriate authorities. It also permits you to get involved with removing illegal activities from the Sea without personal confrontations.
